About the Event

Eat Share started with a pot of soup and a nervous delivery to a neighbor who had broken his arm after a fall on ice. A few years later, this 501(c) registered nonprofit is 100% volunteer staffed and fully grassroots funded, with the mission of spreading kindness through food sharing in north central PA.
We do this in a number of ways, including individual deliveries to families, hosting free community meals, sponsoring local blessing boxes, and through our Food Forward waste prevention program. Since 2023, Volunteer Chefs have delivered 489 meals to family doorsteps and hosted four free community meals, serving a total of 1,236 meals.

Requests are up in 2025 and we anticipate an increase in local food insecurity and the need for mutual aid as spending cuts are proposed to critical nutrition programs.
There is no qualifying criteria or financial questions required to receive a meal or groceries from Eat Share. We take great pride in never saying “no” to a request, but sometimes, we do have to decline food donations. We believe that food insecurity isn’t due to a lack of enough food, but a lack of access. To continue to meet demand, we need to grow into a physical space where we can safely store and creatively redistribute excess food. To do this, we need your financial support to expand our operations and outreach.
